I'm Makoto Kino. As Christmas is approaching, I'm baking a chocolate log. I notice a Purple Pikmin and an Ice Pikmin looking at me with great curiosity.
These mysterious creatures from outer space appeared in the summer after seeds fell from the sky in Tokyo. Peaceful by nature, they have captured the hearts of the public. Scientists try to study them, children and adults keep them as pets. As for me, I don't keep any, but I always have impromptu visits from them at my apartment.
"Hi!" I said to the two Pikmin. "Sorry, I don't think you can help me." I said to the Ice Pikmin. "Stay away from the oven. I turned it on so it's hot. As for you..." I look at the Purple Pikmin. "Maybe you can do something for me. How about...?" I take an egg. "Breaking the egg? I need two in total."
The Purple Pikmin makes sounds of joy and a sort of "viiii!". It puts its little hands on the egg I'm holding and I let it go.
"Good! Now gently tap it on the edge of the bowl to break the shell then..." I see the Purple Pikimin throw the egg into the air. "NO!" I catch the egg in time. "Not that way! I'll show you."
I crack the egg properly. I give another to the Purple Pikmin and he throws it into the air.
"Not again!" I said while grabbing the second egg. "You don't seem to understand what to do." I look at the Ice Pikmin. "Hmmm... why don't you give it a try?"
I give it the egg, but the Ice Pikmin freezes it by touching it.
"Vi-vi?" It asks me.
"Uh... no, not vi-vi."
It looks disappointed. I take the frozen egg and soak it in hot water to thaw. I'm going to use it for something else. I crack another egg myself and continue with the chocolate log recipe. The two Pikmin continue to watch me. I wonder if they would like to eat it when it's ready? One thing's for sure, I know Christmas is going to be great.
